Floor console air conditioning in Alfreton
Where a room in Alfreton has deep cornicing or a picture rail, a console keeps the walls above it clear. Summer peaks in the East Midlands make bedrooms under the roof the hardest rooms to keep comfortable.
If your home in Alfreton is bay-fronted or period, a console often suits it better than a high wall unit. Alfreton is about 13 miles from Derby and falls within our Derbyshire coverage. Coverage includes DE55.
Prices in Alfreton
For Alfreton, expect roughly £1,295 to £2,845 per room, VAT included, adjusted for typical East Midlands rates. Labour rates in the East Midlands keep this slightly under the national middle. The biggest variables are the pipe route, access for the outdoor unit and the state of the consumer unit, all of which the survey settles. As an example, the Popular option (quieter console with Wi-Fi control for a living room) would typically be £1,695–£2,245 here.

Guide prices show VAT at 20%. HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.
Planning and permissions
Since 29 May 2025, England's permitted development rules allow larger outdoor units (up to 1.5 m³) and no longer require a 1 m gap to the boundary, provided the MCS 020(a) noise check is met. Listed buildings and pitched-roof installs still need permission.
The survey
At the survey we look at how each room is used, where the sun hits it and how the pipes can reach the outside wall, then put it all in a written quote. Surveys in Alfreton cover heat gain, pipe routes, electrics, access and noise to the nearest neighbour, so surprises on the day are rare.
