Air conditioning for extensions and kitchen-diners in Caernarfon
An extension in Caernarfon with a roof lantern or large glazed doors can overheat quickly on a sunny afternoon. North Wales has mild, damp weather for much of the year, so efficient heating and dehumidifying are big benefits.
In Caernarfon, a side wall of a single-storey extension is usually the neatest place for the indoor unit. Caernarfon lies roughly 8 miles from Bangor, Gwynedd, and we cover it as part of Gwynedd. Postcode districts we cover here include LL55.
Prices in Caernarfon
Our North Wales guide price for air conditioning for extensions and kitchen-diners is £1,345–£4,195 per space, VAT included. It is a touch below the UK middle, as trade rates in North Wales tend to be. Concealed pipework, access equipment for high walls and any electrical work are what push prices towards the upper figure. For reference, the Large single option in Caernarfon (one 5–7 kW unit for a large glazed space) usually comes to about £1,945–£2,695.
Single unit
One 3.5–5 kW unit for a medium extension.
Large single
One 5–7 kW unit for a large glazed space.
Twin units
Two indoor units on a multi-split for long or L-shaped spaces.
Guide prices show VAT at 20%. HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.
Planning and permissions
Wales removed its old 3 m boundary rule on 1 June 2026, so most houses in Caernarfon can now have an outdoor unit under permitted development if it meets the MCS 020a noise condition. Listed buildings still need consent, and conservation areas have extra restrictions.
The survey
We book surveys in Caernarfon at a time that suits you, including early evenings by arrangement, and send the written quote afterwards. On a survey in Caernarfon the engineer looks at room size, glazing, the route for pipes and drains, the electrics and where the outdoor unit can sit quietly, then the written quote follows.
