Air conditioning for extensions and kitchen-diners in Ruthin
In Ruthin, a side wall of a single-storey extension is usually the neatest place for the indoor unit. In North Wales, an air-to-air system can be an efficient way to heat holiday homes and bungalows, with cooling as a bonus.
An extension in Ruthin with a roof lantern or large glazed doors can overheat quickly on a sunny afternoon. Ruthin is about 14 miles from Wrexham and falls within our Clwyd coverage. We cover LL15 and the streets around them.
Prices in Ruthin
Our North Wales guide price for air conditioning for extensions and kitchen-diners is £1,345–£4,195 per space, VAT included. It is a touch below the UK middle, as trade rates in North Wales tend to be. The biggest variables are the pipe route, access for the outdoor unit and the state of the consumer unit, all of which the survey settles. For reference, the Large single option in Ruthin (one 5–7 kW unit for a large glazed space) usually comes to about £1,945–£2,695.
Single unit
One 3.5–5 kW unit for a medium extension.
Large single
One 5–7 kW unit for a large glazed space.
Twin units
Two indoor units on a multi-split for long or L-shaped spaces.
Guide prices show VAT at 20%. HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.
Planning and permissions
Wales removed its old 3 m boundary rule on 1 June 2026, so most houses in Ruthin can now have an outdoor unit under permitted development if it meets the MCS 020a noise condition. Listed buildings still need consent, and conservation areas have extra restrictions.
The survey
A survey in Ruthin usually takes one to two hours. We measure the rooms, check the walls and the consumer unit, agree the outdoor unit position with you and photograph the pipe routes. On a survey in Ruthin the engineer looks at room size, glazing, the route for pipes and drains, the electrics and where the outdoor unit can sit quietly, then the written quote follows.
