Storage and electric heater replacement in Swansea
Humid summer spells in South Wales make dehumidifying and cooling equally welcome. Flats and bungalows in Swansea that have never had gas are the usual candidates for replacing storage heaters.
Old storage heaters in Swansea homes are removed and recycled as part of the replacement. Swansea is one of the main towns we cover in West Glamorgan, alongside Neath and Briton Ferry. Homes in SA1 are all within our coverage.
Prices in Swansea
In South and Mid Wales, our guide range for storage and electric heater replacement is £3,145–£9,595 for 3–5 rooms, including VAT. It is a touch below the UK middle, as trade rates in South and Mid Wales tend to be. What moves a quote in Swansea up or down is mostly pipe length, how high the outdoor unit goes, and whether a new electrical circuit is needed. As an example, the Bungalow or house option (four rooms on one outdoor unit) would typically be £4,545–£7,295 here.
Small flat
Two or three rooms replacing storage heaters.
Bungalow or house
Four rooms on one outdoor unit.
Larger home
Five or more rooms or two outdoor units.
Prices are shown before any Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant. The £2,500 air-to-air grant applies only to eligible homes in England and Wales, using an MCS-certified heat pump installed by an MCS-certified installer, who applies for the grant and deducts it from the price. We confirm eligibility, and which installer applies, before you commit.
Guide prices show VAT at 20%. HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.
Planning and permissions
Wales removed its old 3 m boundary rule on 1 June 2026, so most houses in Swansea can now have an outdoor unit under permitted development if it meets the MCS 020a noise condition. Listed buildings still need consent, and conservation areas have extra restrictions.
If your home in Swansea is replacing fossil fuel or electric heating, and no gas, oil or LPG boiler stays in use, an MCS-certified air-to-air heat pump may qualify for the £2,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant, which the MCS-certified installer claims and deducts from the price.
The survey
Surveys in Swansea cover heat gain, pipe routes, electrics, access and noise to the nearest neighbour, so surprises on the day are rare. The free survey is where the real price is set: room measurements, pipe and drain routes, electrical checks and the outdoor unit position, all written into your quote.
