South Wales summers can be warm and humid, and winters damp, so a reversible system earns its keep all year. Ducted systems suit Merthyr Tydfil loft conversions and new extensions where ceilings are being boarded anyway.

Planning and permissions
Since 1 June 2026, Welsh permitted development rules for outdoor units closely match England's: up to 1.5 m³, two units on a detached home, one on other homes, and MCS 020a noise compliance. Listed buildings need consent, and conservation areas have extra restrictions on units facing a road.
