Design-led and low-profile air conditioning in Gelligaer
For Gelligaer houses with decorated or panelled walls, a slim unit with concealed pipework keeps the room looking finished. Wet South Wales winters make a heat pump's quiet, even heating and dehumidifying mode useful well beyond summer.
Design-led units suit Gelligaer homes with feature walls or open-plan rooms where the unit is always in view. Gelligaer sits around 18 miles from Bridgend, inside our Mid Glamorgan area. That includes the CF82 postcode district.
Prices in Gelligaer
Our South and Mid Wales guide price for design-led air conditioning is £1,695–£3,345 per room, VAT included. That sits a little below the UK middle, reflecting typical South and Mid Wales labour rates. Quotes move with the length of the pipe run, where the outdoor unit can sit and how much electrical work the job needs. Typical Flat-fronted work (flat panel unit in white, black or silver for a living room) lands around £2,045–£2,695 in this area.

Guide prices show VAT at 20%. HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.
Planning and permissions
Wales removed its old 3 m boundary rule on 1 June 2026, so most houses in Gelligaer can now have an outdoor unit under permitted development if it meets the MCS 020a noise condition. Listed buildings still need consent, and conservation areas have extra restrictions.
The survey
At the survey we look at how each room is used, where the sun hits it and how the pipes can reach the outside wall, then put it all in a written quote. Surveys in Gelligaer cover heat gain, pipe routes, electrics, access and noise to the nearest neighbour, so surprises on the day are rare.
