Design-led and low-profile air conditioning in Carshalton
For Carshalton houses with decorated or panelled walls, a slim unit with concealed pipework keeps the room looking finished. In London, heat soaks into brick and concrete during the day and comes back out at night, which is when it is hardest to sleep.
Design-led units suit Carshalton homes with feature walls or open-plan rooms where the unit is always in view. Carshalton is about 9 miles from central London and falls within our London coverage. Coverage includes SM5.
Prices in Carshalton
In London, our guide range for design-led air conditioning is £2,445–£4,795 per room, including VAT. Prices here sit above the national middle, reflecting London labour rates and parking and access costs. Guide prices show VAT at 20%. HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.
Planning and permissions
For most houses in Carshalton, the outdoor unit is permitted development if it passes the MCS 020(a) noise check (37 dB(A) or less at the nearest neighbouring window) and stays within the size and number limits. We run that check on survey.
The survey
Surveys in Carshalton cover heat gain, pipe routes, electrics, access and noise to the nearest neighbour, so surprises on the day are rare. On a survey in Carshalton the engineer looks at room size, glazing, the route for pipes and drains, the electrics and where the outdoor unit can sit quietly, then the written quote follows.
