Design-led and low-profile air conditioning in Consett

Design-led and low-profile air conditioning in Consett

Cooler North East summers mean cooling is mostly needed in lofts, conservatories and rooms with large windows. In Consett, a flat-fronted unit is a neat way to add cooling to a living room without a bulky white box.

Design-led units suit Consett homes with feature walls or open-plan rooms where the unit is always in view. Consett lies roughly 11 miles from Durham, and we cover it as part of County Durham. That includes the DH8 postcode district.

Prices in Consett

For Consett, expect roughly £1,695 to £3,345 per room, VAT included, adjusted for typical North East England rates. It is a touch below the UK middle, as trade rates in North East England tend to be. What moves a quote in Consett up or down is mostly pipe length, how high the outdoor unit goes, and whether a new electrical circuit is needed. For reference, the Flat-fronted option in Consett (flat panel unit in white, black or silver for a living room) usually comes to about £2,045–£2,695.

Guide prices show VAT at 20%. HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.

Planning and permissions

For most houses in Consett, the outdoor unit is permitted development if it passes the MCS 020(a) noise check (37 dB(A) or less at the nearest neighbouring window) and stays within the size and number limits. We run that check on survey.

The survey

We book surveys in Consett at a time that suits you, including early evenings by arrangement, and send the written quote afterwards. The free survey is where the real price is set: room measurements, pipe and drain routes, electrical checks and the outdoor unit position, all written into your quote.
