Bedroom and loft air conditioning across the West Midlands
For bedrooms in Birmingham, we place the outdoor unit at the back of the house, away from neighbours' windows. Loft conversions and top-floor bedrooms in Birmingham gain heat through the roof all day and give it back at night. Away from the coast, West Midlands summers can turn hot quickly, and bedrooms under the roof are the first to suffer.
Prices in the West Midlands
Guide prices around the West Midlands run from £1,145 to £2,895 per room including VAT. That is close to the UK middle for this kind of work. Longer or hidden pipe runs, high-level brackets and electrical upgrades are the usual reasons a quote lands at the top of the range. As an example, the Popular option (low-noise unit with Wi-Fi for a loft room or main bedroom) would typically be £1,495–£2,145 here.
Essential
2–2.5 kW unit for a small bedroom with a short pipe run.
Popular
Low-noise unit with Wi-Fi for a loft room or main bedroom.
Premium
Very quiet model, concealed pipework or a flat-roof stand.
Guide prices show VAT at 20%. HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.
Planning and permissions
In England, most houses can have an outdoor unit under permitted development if it is no larger than 1.5 m³, meets the MCS 020(a) noise limit of 37 dB(A) at the nearest neighbour's window, and there are no more than two on a detached house or one on other houses. Listed buildings need consent.
The survey
On a survey in the West Midlands the engineer looks at room size, glazing, the route for pipes and drains, the electrics and where the outdoor unit can sit quietly, then the written quote follows. Surveys in the West Midlands cover heat gain, pipe routes, electrics, access and noise to the nearest neighbour, so surprises on the day are rare.
