Bedroom and loft air conditioning in Newtown

Bedroom and loft air conditioning in Newtown

Loft conversions and top-floor bedrooms in Newtown gain heat through the roof all day and give it back at night. South Wales summers can be warm and humid, and winters damp, so a reversible system earns its keep all year.

For bedrooms in Newtown, we place the outdoor unit at the back of the house, away from neighbours' windows. As well as Newtown itself, our Powys coverage takes in Brecon, Llandrindod Wells and the towns around them. Coverage includes SY16.

Prices in Newtown

Bedroom and loft air conditioning in Newtown typically comes in at £1,095–£2,695 per room including VAT, based on South and Mid Wales rates. That sits a little below the UK middle, reflecting typical South and Mid Wales labour rates. The biggest variables are the pipe route, access for the outdoor unit and the state of the consumer unit, all of which the survey settles. Typical Popular work (low-noise unit with Wi-Fi for a loft room or main bedroom) lands around £1,445–£1,995 in this area.

Guide prices show VAT at 20%. HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.

Planning and permissions

Since 1 June 2026, Welsh permitted development rules for outdoor units closely match England's: up to 1.5 m³, two units on a detached home, one on other homes, and MCS 020a noise compliance. Listed buildings need consent, and conservation areas have extra restrictions on units facing a road.

The survey

On a survey in Newtown the engineer looks at room size, glazing, the route for pipes and drains, the electrics and where the outdoor unit can sit quietly, then the written quote follows. We book surveys in Newtown at a time that suits you, including early evenings by arrangement, and send the written quote afterwards.
