Air-to-air heat pumps in Hove
The South East sees some of the UK's warmest summer days, and south-facing rooms and conservatories feel it first. Ask at your Hove survey whether the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant could apply to your home.
We size every heat pump in Hove for a cold winter day, then check the cooling side is right for summer. Hove is about 1 mile from Brighton and falls within our East Sussex coverage. That includes the BN3 postcode district.
Prices in Hove
Budget around £3,595–£13,945 for 2–5 rooms including VAT for air-to-air heat pumps in and around Hove. Prices here sit above the national middle, reflecting South East England labour rates and parking and access costs. The biggest variables are the pipe route, access for the outdoor unit and the state of the consumer unit, all of which the survey settles. On our South East England figures, the Small home option (three or four rooms heated and cooled) is about £5,445–£9,095.
Two rooms
Living room and main bedroom on one outdoor unit.
Small home
Three or four rooms heated and cooled.
Whole home
Five or more rooms, sized to replace the existing heating.
Prices are shown before any Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant. The £2,500 air-to-air grant applies only to eligible homes in England and Wales, using an MCS-certified heat pump installed by an MCS-certified installer, who applies for the grant and deducts it from the price. We confirm eligibility, and which installer applies, before you commit.
Guide prices show VAT at 20%. HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.
Planning and permissions
For most houses in Hove, the outdoor unit is permitted development if it passes the MCS 020(a) noise check (37 dB(A) or less at the nearest neighbouring window) and stays within the size and number limits. We run that check on survey.
If your home in Hove is replacing fossil fuel or electric heating, and no gas, oil or LPG boiler stays in use, an MCS-certified air-to-air heat pump may qualify for the £2,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant, which the MCS-certified installer claims and deducts from the price.
The survey
We book surveys in Hove at a time that suits you, including early evenings by arrangement, and send the written quote afterwards. On a survey in Hove the engineer looks at room size, glazing, the route for pipes and drains, the electrics and where the outdoor unit can sit quietly, then the written quote follows.
