Home air conditioning in Letchworth Garden City
Long sunny spells in the East of England put conservatories and top-floor rooms under real pressure. Letchworth Garden City lies roughly 24 miles from Watford, and we cover it as part of Hertfordshire. Coverage includes SG6 and SG15.
Rooms and systems
Loft conversions and top-floor bedrooms in Letchworth Garden City gain heat through the roof all day and give it back at night. Balcony-mounted outdoor units are often the neatest solution for flats in Letchworth Garden City. Design-led units suit Letchworth Garden City homes with feature walls or open-plan rooms where the unit is always in view. In Letchworth Garden City, the indoor unit usually goes on the original house wall inside the conservatory.
For a single hot bedroom or living room, a wall-mounted split is usually the simplest answer. Two to four rooms often suit a multi-split on one outdoor unit, while a ducted system hides everything except the grilles. Existing systems need care too: an annual service, an occasional deep clean and prompt repairs keep them efficient and quiet.

Planning and permissions
Since 29 May 2025, England's permitted development rules allow larger outdoor units (up to 1.5 m³) and no longer require a 1 m gap to the boundary, provided the MCS 020(a) noise check is met. Listed buildings and pitched-roof installs still need permission. Leaseholders in Letchworth Garden City usually need the freeholder's consent for anything fixed outside, and blocks of flats often need planning permission for outdoor units.
Letchworth Garden City is in the Boiler Upgrade Scheme area, so eligible homes replacing oil, gas, LPG or electric heating may be able to get £2,500 off an air-to-air heat pump, as long as no fossil-fuel boiler stays in use. An MCS-certified installer must claim it; we confirm eligibility, and which installer applies, before you commit.
