Home air conditioning in Sale
North West summers are cooler, so many systems here earn their keep as efficient heaters, with cooling for the warmest weeks. We cover Sale as part of Greater Manchester, roughly 5 miles from Manchester. That includes the M33 postcode district.
Rooms and systems
Top-floor flats in Sale feel the heat most, because the roof sits right above the bedroom. We check the armoured supply cable on every Sale garden room before quoting. In Sale apartment blocks, the freeholder's consent is usually the first thing to sort out. Smart control is a simple upgrade for Sale homes with a working system but no app.
Many homes start with one or two rooms. A system can be designed so that more rooms are added later without replacing the outdoor unit. Design-led units, slim floor consoles and concealed ducted systems are all options where a standard white wall unit would look out of place.
Guide prices in Sale
On our North West England figures, a wall-mounted system is typically £1,095–£2,795 per room, a repair £140–£1,195, and conservatory air conditioning £1,395–£3,295 per system, all including VAT. Installations are fixed in writing after a free survey; visits are priced before we come.
Planning and permissions
Since 29 May 2025, England's permitted development rules allow larger outdoor units (up to 1.5 m³) and no longer require a 1 m gap to the boundary, provided the MCS 020(a) noise check is met. Listed buildings and pitched-roof installs still need permission. For flats in Sale, the lease and the freeholder's consent come first. Planning rules for blocks of flats are stricter than for houses, and we check them before quoting.
Sale is in the Boiler Upgrade Scheme area, so eligible homes replacing oil, gas, LPG or electric heating may be able to get £2,500 off an air-to-air heat pump, as long as no fossil-fuel boiler stays in use. An MCS-certified installer must claim it; we confirm eligibility, and which installer applies, before you commit.
