Wall-mounted air conditioning in Beckenham

Wall-mounted air conditioning in Beckenham

In a semi or terrace in Beckenham, the indoor unit often goes on a back bedroom wall with the outdoor unit on a bracket below. Many London homes are flats or tall terraces, where heat rises to the top floor and the bedrooms bear the brunt of a hot spell.

Where a home in Beckenham faces the street, the outdoor unit usually goes at the rear, out of sight. Beckenham lies roughly 8 miles from central London, and we cover it as part of London. That includes the BR3 postcode district.

Prices in Beckenham

For Beckenham, expect roughly £1,495 to £3,895 per room, VAT included, adjusted for typical London rates. London is one of the dearer parts of the UK for trades, which shows in the range. Concealed pipework, access equipment for high walls and any electrical work are what push prices towards the upper figure. As an example, the Popular option (quieter mid-range unit with Wi-Fi control and better seasonal efficiency for a living room) would typically be £2,045–£2,845 here.

Guide prices show VAT at 20%. HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.

Planning and permissions

In England, most houses can have an outdoor unit under permitted development if it is no larger than 1.5 m³, meets the MCS 020(a) noise limit of 37 dB(A) at the nearest neighbour's window, and there are no more than two on a detached house or one on other houses. Listed buildings need consent.

The survey

Surveys in Beckenham cover heat gain, pipe routes, electrics, access and noise to the nearest neighbour, so surprises on the day are rare. At the survey we look at how each room is used, where the sun hits it and how the pipes can reach the outside wall, then put it all in a written quote.
