Wall-mounted air conditioning in Rickmansworth
A single wall-mounted unit is often all a bedroom or sunny living room in Rickmansworth needs. Bright summers in the East of England mean solar gain through glass is usually the biggest load to design for.
Where a home in Rickmansworth faces the street, the outdoor unit usually goes at the rear, out of sight. Rickmansworth lies roughly 4 miles from Watford, and we cover it as part of Hertfordshire. Coverage includes WD3.
Prices in Rickmansworth
Budget around £1,295–£3,295 per room including VAT for wall-mounted air conditioning in and around Rickmansworth. That is above the UK middle, mainly because labour and access cost more in the East of England. Concealed pipework, access equipment for high walls and any electrical work are what push prices towards the upper figure. On our East of England figures, the Popular option (quieter mid-range unit with Wi-Fi control and better seasonal efficiency for a living room) is about £1,745–£2,395.
Essential
Reliable 2.5–3.5 kW unit for a bedroom or study, standard pipe run, basic remote.
Popular
Quieter mid-range unit with Wi-Fi control and better seasonal efficiency for a living room.
Premium

Guide prices show VAT at 20%. HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.
Planning and permissions
In England, most houses can have an outdoor unit under permitted development if it is no larger than 1.5 m³, meets the MCS 020(a) noise limit of 37 dB(A) at the nearest neighbour's window, and there are no more than two on a detached house or one on other houses. Listed buildings need consent.
The survey
The free survey is where the real price is set: room measurements, pipe and drain routes, electrical checks and the outdoor unit position, all written into your quote. At the survey we look at how each room is used, where the sun hits it and how the pipes can reach the outside wall, then put it all in a written quote.
