Wall-mounted air conditioning in Caernarfon
Exposed coastal sites in North Wales call for outdoor units placed out of the wind and salt spray where possible. A single wall-mounted unit is often all a bedroom or sunny living room in Caernarfon needs.
Where a home in Caernarfon faces the street, the outdoor unit usually goes at the rear, out of sight. We cover Caernarfon as part of Gwynedd, roughly 8 miles from Bangor, Gwynedd. That includes the LL55 postcode district.
Prices in Caernarfon
Budget around £1,095–£2,745 per room including VAT for wall-mounted air conditioning in and around Caernarfon. That sits a little below the UK middle, reflecting typical North Wales labour rates. The biggest variables are the pipe route, access for the outdoor unit and the state of the consumer unit, all of which the survey settles. As an example, the Popular option (quieter mid-range unit with Wi-Fi control and better seasonal efficiency for a living room) would typically be £1,445–£1,995 here.

Guide prices show VAT at 20%. HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.
Planning and permissions
Wales removed its old 3 m boundary rule on 1 June 2026, so most houses in Caernarfon can now have an outdoor unit under permitted development if it meets the MCS 020a noise condition. Listed buildings still need consent, and conservation areas have extra restrictions.
The survey
The free survey is where the real price is set: room measurements, pipe and drain routes, electrical checks and the outdoor unit position, all written into your quote. We book surveys in Caernarfon at a time that suits you, including early evenings by arrangement, and send the written quote afterwards.
