Wall-mounted air conditioning in Leigh
In a semi or terrace in Leigh, the indoor unit often goes on a back bedroom wall with the outdoor unit on a bracket below. North West summers are cooler, so many systems here earn their keep as efficient heaters, with cooling for the warmest weeks.
A single wall-mounted unit is often all a bedroom or sunny living room in Leigh needs. Leigh lies roughly 12 miles from Manchester, and we cover it as part of Greater Manchester. We cover WN7 and the streets around them.
Prices in Leigh
In North West England, our guide range for wall-mounted air conditioning is £1,095–£2,795 per room, including VAT. That sits a little below the UK middle, reflecting typical North West England labour rates. The biggest variables are the pipe route, access for the outdoor unit and the state of the consumer unit, all of which the survey settles. For reference, the Popular option in Leigh (quieter mid-range unit with Wi-Fi control and better seasonal efficiency for a living room) usually comes to about £1,445–£2,045.

Guide prices show VAT at 20%. HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.
Planning and permissions
England's rules let most houses fit an outdoor unit without a planning application, as long as the size, number and MCS 020(a) noise conditions are met. Flats, listed buildings and roof-mounted units are treated differently.
The survey
Surveys in Leigh cover heat gain, pipe routes, electrics, access and noise to the nearest neighbour, so surprises on the day are rare. At the survey we look at how each room is used, where the sun hits it and how the pipes can reach the outside wall, then put it all in a written quote.
