Wall-mounted air conditioning in Paignton
Coastal breezes help, but inland South West towns and glazed rooms still see uncomfortable peaks. A single wall-mounted unit is often all a bedroom or sunny living room in Paignton needs.
Where a home in Paignton faces the street, the outdoor unit usually goes at the rear, out of sight. Paignton is about 26 miles from Plymouth and falls within our Devon coverage. Postcode districts we cover here include TQ3.
Prices in Paignton
Budget around £1,150–£2,950 per room including VAT for wall-mounted air conditioning in and around Paignton. That is broadly in line with national guide prices. Longer or hidden pipe runs, high-level brackets and electrical upgrades are the usual reasons a quote lands at the top of the range. As an example, the Popular option (quieter mid-range unit with Wi-Fi control and better seasonal efficiency for a living room) would typically be £1,550–£2,150 here.
Essential
Reliable 2.5–3.5 kW unit for a bedroom or study, standard pipe run, basic remote.
Popular
Quieter mid-range unit with Wi-Fi control and better seasonal efficiency for a living room.
Premium
Design-led or very quiet model, larger capacity or concealed pipework through a void.
Guide prices show VAT at 20%. HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.
Planning and permissions
In England, most houses can have an outdoor unit under permitted development if it is no larger than 1.5 m³, meets the MCS 020(a) noise limit of 37 dB(A) at the nearest neighbour's window, and there are no more than two on a detached house or one on other houses. Listed buildings need consent.
The survey
The free survey is where the real price is set: room measurements, pipe and drain routes, electrical checks and the outdoor unit position, all written into your quote. Surveys in Paignton cover heat gain, pipe routes, electrics, access and noise to the nearest neighbour, so surprises on the day are rare.
