Ducted air conditioning across Oxfordshire
For a renovation in Oxford, the best time to plan ducted cooling is before the plasterers arrive. Ducted systems suit Oxford loft conversions and new extensions where ceilings are being boarded anyway. In the South East, loft rooms and glazed extensions can climb well above the outside temperature on a sunny afternoon.
Prices in Oxfordshire
In South East England, our guide range for ducted air conditioning is £6,645–£18,245 per system, including VAT. South East England is one of the dearer parts of the UK for trades, which shows in the range. Concealed pipework, access equipment for high walls and any electrical work are what push prices towards the upper figure. As an example, the Zoned option (motorised dampers or two units for separate floors or room groups) would typically be £9,095–£13,345 here.
Single zone
One ducted unit serving two or three rooms from a loft or void.
Zoned
Motorised dampers or two units for separate floors or room groups.
Whole home
Multiple ducted units with linear slot diffusers and smart control.
Guide prices show VAT at 20%. HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.
Planning and permissions
For most houses in Oxfordshire, the outdoor unit is permitted development if it passes the MCS 020(a) noise check (37 dB(A) or less at the nearest neighbouring window) and stays within the size and number limits. We run that check on survey.
The survey
Surveys in Oxfordshire cover heat gain, pipe routes, electrics, access and noise to the nearest neighbour, so surprises on the day are rare. On a survey in Oxfordshire the engineer looks at room size, glazing, the route for pipes and drains, the electrics and where the outdoor unit can sit quietly, then the written quote follows.
