Ducted air conditioning in Elgin
In the Highlands, Islands and the North East of Scotland, systems are sized for cold winter days first. In an older house in Elgin, the loft and any existing bulkheads decide whether a ducted layout will work.
Ducted systems suit Elgin loft conversions and new extensions where ceilings are being boarded anyway. As well as Elgin itself, our Moray coverage takes in Buckie, Forres and the towns around them. Homes in IV30 are all within our coverage.
Prices in Elgin
Budget around £4,845–£13,295 per system including VAT for ducted air conditioning in and around Elgin. It is a touch below the UK middle, as trade rates in the Highlands, Islands and North East Scotland tend to be. Longer or hidden pipe runs, high-level brackets and electrical upgrades are the usual reasons a quote lands at the top of the range. As an example, the Zoned option (motorised dampers or two units for separate floors or room groups) would typically be £6,645–£9,745 here.
Single zone
One ducted unit serving two or three rooms from a loft or void.

Guide prices show VAT at 20%. HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.
Planning and permissions
In Scotland, planning conditions for outdoor units depend on the property type and location; conservation areas and listed buildings need particular care.
The survey
Surveys in Elgin cover heat gain, pipe routes, electrics, access and noise to the nearest neighbour, so surprises on the day are rare. On a survey in Elgin the engineer looks at room size, glazing, the route for pipes and drains, the electrics and where the outdoor unit can sit quietly, then the written quote follows.
