Ducted air conditioning in Dolgellau
In an older house in Dolgellau, the loft and any existing bulkheads decide whether a ducted layout will work. In North Wales, an air-to-air system can be an efficient way to heat holiday homes and bungalows, with cooling as a bonus.
Ducted systems suit Dolgellau loft conversions and new extensions where ceilings are being boarded anyway. Dolgellau lies roughly 35 miles from Bangor, Gwynedd, and we cover it as part of Gwynedd. That includes the LL40 postcode district.
Prices in Dolgellau
Our North Wales guide price for ducted air conditioning is £5,095–£14,045 per system, VAT included. Labour rates in North Wales keep this slightly under the national middle. The biggest variables are the pipe route, access for the outdoor unit and the state of the consumer unit, all of which the survey settles. On our North Wales figures, the Zoned option (motorised dampers or two units for separate floors or room groups) is about £6,995–£10,295.

HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.
Planning and permissions
In Wales, outdoor units of up to 1.5 m³ that meet MCS 020a noise limits are usually permitted development on houses; listed buildings need consent, and in conservation areas a unit cannot go on a wall or roof facing a road.
The survey
On a survey in Dolgellau the engineer looks at room size, glazing, the route for pipes and drains, the electrics and where the outdoor unit can sit quietly, then the written quote follows. Surveys in Dolgellau cover heat gain, pipe routes, electrics, access and noise to the nearest neighbour, so surprises on the day are rare.
