Ducted air conditioning in Glenrothes
In an older house in Glenrothes, the loft and any existing bulkheads decide whether a ducted layout will work. Mild Scottish summers mean cooling matters most in conservatories, lofts and rooms with large windows.
Ducted systems suit Glenrothes loft conversions and new extensions where ceilings are being boarded anyway. Glenrothes lies roughly 14 miles from Dunfermline, and we cover it as part of Fife. Postcode districts we cover here include KY7.
Prices in Glenrothes
In Central and Southern Scotland, our guide range for ducted air conditioning is £4,995–£13,745 per system, including VAT. It is a touch below the UK middle, as trade rates in Central and Southern Scotland tend to be. The biggest variables are the pipe route, access for the outdoor unit and the state of the consumer unit, all of which the survey settles. On our Central and Southern Scotland figures, the Zoned option (motorised dampers or two units for separate floors or room groups) is about £6,845–£10,045.

If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.
Planning and permissions
Outdoor units on Scottish homes can often be installed without a planning application, but the conditions differ from England's, so we confirm the rules for your property at survey.
The survey
A survey in Glenrothes usually takes one to two hours. We measure the rooms, check the walls and the consumer unit, agree the outdoor unit position with you and photograph the pipe routes. At the survey we look at how each room is used, where the sun hits it and how the pipes can reach the outside wall, then put it all in a written quote.
