Ducted air conditioning in Wickford
Ducted systems suit Wickford loft conversions and new extensions where ceilings are being boarded anyway. Low rainfall and long summer days in the East of England make south-facing rooms the first to overheat.
For a renovation in Wickford, the best time to plan ducted cooling is before the plasterers arrive. Wickford sits around 10 miles from Southend-on-Sea, inside our Essex area. Homes in SS12 are all within our coverage.
Prices in Wickford
In the East of England, our guide range for ducted air conditioning is £6,095–£16,745 per system, including VAT. That is above the UK middle, mainly because labour and access cost more in the East of England. The biggest variables are the pipe route, access for the outdoor unit and the state of the consumer unit, all of which the survey settles. As an example, the Zoned option (motorised dampers or two units for separate floors or room groups) would typically be £8,345–£12,245 here.
Single zone
One ducted unit serving two or three rooms from a loft or void.
Zoned
Motorised dampers or two units for separate floors or room groups.
Whole home
Multiple ducted units with linear slot diffusers and smart control.
Guide prices show VAT at 20%. HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.
Planning and permissions
For most houses in Wickford, the outdoor unit is permitted development if it passes the MCS 020(a) noise check (37 dB(A) or less at the nearest neighbouring window) and stays within the size and number limits. We run that check on survey.
The survey
Surveys in Wickford cover heat gain, pipe routes, electrics, access and noise to the nearest neighbour, so surprises on the day are rare. The free survey is where the real price is set: room measurements, pipe and drain routes, electrical checks and the outdoor unit position, all written into your quote.
