Conservatory air conditioning in Kettering

Conservatory air conditioning in Kettering

Conservatories and orangeries in Kettering can swing from too hot in July to too cold in January. In the East Midlands, one system that cools in summer and heats efficiently in winter makes good use of the investment.

In Kettering, the indoor unit usually goes on the original house wall inside the conservatory. We cover Kettering as part of Northamptonshire, roughly 12 miles from Northampton. We cover NN16 and the streets around them.

Prices in Kettering

For Kettering, expect roughly £1,395 to £3,295 per system, VAT included, adjusted for typical East Midlands rates. That sits a little below the UK middle, reflecting typical East Midlands labour rates. The biggest variables are the pipe route, access for the outdoor unit and the state of the consumer unit, all of which the survey settles. For reference, the Popular option in Kettering (5 kW unit with Wi-Fi for a medium conservatory or orangery) usually comes to about £1,795–£2,495.

Guide prices show VAT at 20%. HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.

Planning and permissions

Since 29 May 2025, England's permitted development rules allow larger outdoor units (up to 1.5 m³) and no longer require a 1 m gap to the boundary, provided the MCS 020(a) noise check is met. Listed buildings and pitched-roof installs still need permission.

The survey

The free survey is where the real price is set: room measurements, pipe and drain routes, electrical checks and the outdoor unit position, all written into your quote. At the survey we look at how each room is used, where the sun hits it and how the pipes can reach the outside wall, then put it all in a written quote.
