Bedroom and loft air conditioning in Cardiff
In South and Mid Wales, efficient heating is often as important as cooling. For bedrooms in Cardiff, we place the outdoor unit at the back of the house, away from neighbours' windows.
Top-floor flats in Cardiff feel the heat most, because the roof sits right above the bedroom. We cover Cardiff and the rest of South Glamorgan, including Barry and Penarth. Homes in CF10, CF11, CF14, CF15, CF23 and CF24 are all within our coverage.
Prices in Cardiff
Guide prices around Cardiff run from £1,095 to £2,695 per room including VAT. Labour rates in South and Mid Wales keep this slightly under the national middle. Longer or hidden pipe runs, high-level brackets and electrical upgrades are the usual reasons a quote lands at the top of the range. Typical Popular work (low-noise unit with Wi-Fi for a loft room or main bedroom) lands around £1,445–£1,995 in this area.
Essential
2–2.5 kW unit for a small bedroom with a short pipe run.
Popular
Low-noise unit with Wi-Fi for a loft room or main bedroom.
Premium
Very quiet model, concealed pipework or a flat-roof stand.
Guide prices show VAT at 20%. HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.
Planning and permissions
Wales removed its old 3 m boundary rule on 1 June 2026, so most houses in Cardiff can now have an outdoor unit under permitted development if it meets the MCS 020a noise condition. Listed buildings still need consent, and conservation areas have extra restrictions.
The survey
The free survey is where the real price is set: room measurements, pipe and drain routes, electrical checks and the outdoor unit position, all written into your quote. On a survey in Cardiff the engineer looks at room size, glazing, the route for pipes and drains, the electrics and where the outdoor unit can sit quietly, then the written quote follows.
