Bedroom and loft air conditioning in Windsor

Bedroom and loft air conditioning in Windsor

In the South East, loft rooms and glazed extensions can climb well above the outside temperature on a sunny afternoon. Loft conversions and top-floor bedrooms in Windsor gain heat through the roof all day and give it back at night.

For bedrooms in Windsor, we place the outdoor unit at the back of the house, away from neighbours' windows. Windsor sits around 16 miles from Reading, inside our Berkshire area. We cover SL4 and the streets around them.

Prices in Windsor

Our South East England guide price for bedroom and loft air conditioning is £1,445–£3,595 per room, VAT included. South East England is one of the dearer parts of the UK for trades, which shows in the range. Concealed pipework, access equipment for high walls and any electrical work are what push prices towards the upper figure. On our South East England figures, the Popular option (low-noise unit with Wi-Fi for a loft room or main bedroom) is about £1,895–£2,695.

Guide prices show VAT at 20%. HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.

Planning and permissions

Since 29 May 2025, England's permitted development rules allow larger outdoor units (up to 1.5 m³) and no longer require a 1 m gap to the boundary, provided the MCS 020(a) noise check is met. Listed buildings and pitched-roof installs still need permission.

The survey

The free survey is where the real price is set: room measurements, pipe and drain routes, electrical checks and the outdoor unit position, all written into your quote. On a survey in Windsor the engineer looks at room size, glazing, the route for pipes and drains, the electrics and where the outdoor unit can sit quietly, then the written quote follows.
