Air-to-air heat pumps in Worcester

Away from the coast, West Midlands summers can turn hot quickly, and bedrooms under the roof are the first to suffer. Homes in Worcester on electric, oil or LPG heating are the ones most likely to benefit from an air-to-air heat pump.

We size every heat pump in Worcester for a cold winter day, then check the cooling side is right for summer. Worcester is one of the main towns we cover in Worcestershire, alongside Redditch and Kidderminster. We cover WR1 and the streets around them.

Prices in Worcester

Our West Midlands guide price for air-to-air heat pumps is £2,895–£11,195 for 2–5 rooms, VAT included. That is close to the UK middle for this kind of work. Concealed pipework, access equipment for high walls and any electrical work are what push prices towards the upper figure. Typical Small home work (three or four rooms heated and cooled) lands around £4,345–£7,295 in this area.

Prices are shown before any Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant. The £2,500 air-to-air grant applies only to eligible homes in England and Wales, using an MCS-certified heat pump installed by an MCS-certified installer, who applies for the grant and deducts it from the price. We confirm eligibility, and which installer applies, before you commit.

Guide prices show VAT at 20%. HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.

Planning and permissions

In England, most houses can have an outdoor unit under permitted development if it is no larger than 1.5 m³, meets the MCS 020(a) noise limit of 37 dB(A) at the nearest neighbour's window, and there are no more than two on a detached house or one on other houses. Listed buildings need consent.

Worcester is in the Boiler Upgrade Scheme area, so eligible homes replacing oil, gas, LPG or electric heating may be able to get £2,500 off an air-to-air heat pump, as long as no fossil-fuel boiler stays in use. An MCS-certified installer must claim it; we confirm eligibility, and which installer applies, before you commit.

The survey

The free survey is where the real price is set: room measurements, pipe and drain routes, electrical checks and the outdoor unit position, all written into your quote. At the survey we look at how each room is used, where the sun hits it and how the pipes can reach the outside wall, then put it all in a written quote.

Can I get a price for Worcester without a visit?

Yes, our online guide price tool gives a range in about a minute. A fixed price needs a survey, which is free for new installations.

Is the survey in Worcester really free?

Yes, for new installations. The survey and written quote are free and there is no obligation to go ahead.

How long does the installation take in Worcester?

Usually 2–4 days. We confirm the timing, and any days with no cooling or heating, in your written quote.

Will the outdoor unit need planning permission in Worcester?

Most houses can have an outdoor unit under permitted development if it meets the size, number and MCS 020(a) noise conditions. Flats and listed buildings usually need permission or consent. We check on survey.
