Air-to-air heat pumps in Leeds

Yorkshire summers are mostly mild, so efficient winter heating counts for as much as cooling. We size every heat pump in Leeds for a cold winter day, then check the cooling side is right for summer.

Ask at your Leeds survey whether the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant could apply to your home. We cover Leeds and the rest of West Yorkshire, including Bradford and Huddersfield. Coverage includes LS1, LS2, LS3, LS4, LS6 and LS13.

Prices in Leeds

For Leeds, expect roughly £2,795 to £10,895 for 2–5 rooms, VAT included, adjusted for typical Yorkshire and the Humber rates. That sits a little below the UK middle, reflecting typical Yorkshire and the Humber labour rates. What moves a quote in Leeds up or down is mostly pipe length, how high the outdoor unit goes, and whether a new electrical circuit is needed. Typical Small home work (three or four rooms heated and cooled) lands around £4,245–£7,095 in this area.

Prices are shown before any Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant. The £2,500 air-to-air grant applies only to eligible homes in England and Wales, using an MCS-certified heat pump installed by an MCS-certified installer, who applies for the grant and deducts it from the price. We confirm eligibility, and which installer applies, before you commit.

Guide prices show VAT at 20%. HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.

Planning and permissions

In England, most houses can have an outdoor unit under permitted development if it is no larger than 1.5 m³, meets the MCS 020(a) noise limit of 37 dB(A) at the nearest neighbour's window, and there are no more than two on a detached house or one on other houses. Listed buildings need consent.

If your home in Leeds is replacing fossil fuel or electric heating, and no gas, oil or LPG boiler stays in use, an MCS-certified air-to-air heat pump may qualify for the £2,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant, which the MCS-certified installer claims and deducts from the price.

The survey

A survey in Leeds usually takes one to two hours. We measure the rooms, check the walls and the consumer unit, agree the outdoor unit position with you and photograph the pipe routes. The free survey is where the real price is set: room measurements, pipe and drain routes, electrical checks and the outdoor unit position, all written into your quote.

FAQ

Common questions in Leeds

Will the outdoor unit need planning permission in Leeds?

Most houses can have an outdoor unit under permitted development if it meets the size, number and MCS 020(a) noise conditions. Flats and listed buildings usually need permission or consent. We check on survey.

How soon can you survey in Leeds?

We offer survey dates when you enquire. Early summer is the busiest time, so spring and autumn are the easiest times to book.

Who carries out the work in Leeds?

F-gas certified engineers working for Aircon Installers. Your contract is with S&K Property Investments and Improvement Ltd, which trades as Aircon Installers, and your quote names who will do the work and the F-gas company certificate that covers it.

Can I get a price for Leeds without a visit?

Yes, our online guide price tool gives a range in about a minute. A fixed price needs a survey, which is free for new installations.

How long does the installation take in Leeds?

Usually 2–4 days. We confirm the timing, and any days with no cooling or heating, in your written quote.

Can an air-to-air heat pump replace my boiler?

It can replace the space heating, but not hot water. If any gas, oil or LPG boiler stays in use, even just for hot water, the installation does not qualify for the grant, and the heat pump itself must be MCS-certified.
