Air-to-air heat pumps in Bradford

Homes in Bradford on electric, oil or LPG heating are the ones most likely to benefit from an air-to-air heat pump. Across Yorkshire, an air-to-air system is a practical way to replace old electric heaters, with cooling for the hottest spells.

Ask at your Bradford survey whether the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant could apply to your home. Bradford lies roughly 8 miles from Leeds, and we cover it as part of West Yorkshire. Coverage includes BD1, BD2, BD3, BD5, BD7 and 3 more.

Prices in Bradford

Our Yorkshire and the Humber guide price for air-to-air heat pumps is £2,795–£10,895 for 2–5 rooms, VAT included. It is a touch below the UK middle, as trade rates in Yorkshire and the Humber tend to be. The biggest variables are the pipe route, access for the outdoor unit and the state of the consumer unit, all of which the survey settles. As an example, the Small home option (three or four rooms heated and cooled) would typically be £4,245–£7,095 here.

Prices are shown before any Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant. The £2,500 air-to-air grant applies only to eligible homes in England and Wales, using an MCS-certified heat pump installed by an MCS-certified installer, who applies for the grant and deducts it from the price. We confirm eligibility, and which installer applies, before you commit.

Guide prices show VAT at 20%. HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.

Planning and permissions

In England, most houses can have an outdoor unit under permitted development if it is no larger than 1.5 m³, meets the MCS 020(a) noise limit of 37 dB(A) at the nearest neighbour's window, and there are no more than two on a detached house or one on other houses. Listed buildings need consent.

Bradford is in the Boiler Upgrade Scheme area, so eligible homes replacing oil, gas, LPG or electric heating may be able to get £2,500 off an air-to-air heat pump, as long as no fossil-fuel boiler stays in use. An MCS-certified installer must claim it; we confirm eligibility, and which installer applies, before you commit.

The survey

We book surveys in Bradford at a time that suits you, including early evenings by arrangement, and send the written quote afterwards. The free survey is where the real price is set: room measurements, pipe and drain routes, electrical checks and the outdoor unit position, all written into your quote.
