Air-to-air heat pumps across Lincolnshire

Homes in Lincoln on electric, oil or LPG heating are the ones most likely to benefit from an air-to-air heat pump. Ask at your Lincoln survey whether the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant could apply to your home. Summer peaks in the East Midlands make bedrooms under the roof the hardest rooms to keep comfortable.

Prices in Lincolnshire

For Lincolnshire, expect roughly £2,845 to £10,995 for 2–5 rooms, VAT included, adjusted for typical East Midlands rates. Labour rates in the East Midlands keep this slightly under the national middle. The biggest variables are the pipe route, access for the outdoor unit and the state of the consumer unit, all of which the survey settles. For reference, the Small home option in Lincolnshire (three or four rooms heated and cooled) usually comes to about £4,245–£7,145.

Prices are shown before any Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant. The £2,500 air-to-air grant applies only to eligible homes in England and Wales, using an MCS-certified heat pump installed by an MCS-certified installer, who applies for the grant and deducts it from the price. We confirm eligibility, and which installer applies, before you commit.

Guide prices show VAT at 20%. HMRC treats most fixed air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps installed in homes as energy-saving materials, zero-rated until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them. If your installation qualifies, your quote shows 0% VAT and a lower price. Servicing, repairs, cleaning and controls are charged at 20%.

Planning and permissions

In England, most houses can have an outdoor unit under permitted development if it is no larger than 1.5 m³, meets the MCS 020(a) noise limit of 37 dB(A) at the nearest neighbour's window, and there are no more than two on a detached house or one on other houses. Listed buildings need consent.

If your home in Lincolnshire is replacing fossil fuel or electric heating, and no gas, oil or LPG boiler stays in use, an MCS-certified air-to-air heat pump may qualify for the £2,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant, which the MCS-certified installer claims and deducts from the price.

The survey

Surveys in Lincolnshire cover heat gain, pipe routes, electrics, access and noise to the nearest neighbour, so surprises on the day are rare. At the survey we look at how each room is used, where the sun hits it and how the pipes can reach the outside wall, then put it all in a written quote.

FAQ

Air-to-air heat pumps in Lincolnshire

Will the outdoor unit need planning permission in Lincolnshire?

Most houses can have an outdoor unit under permitted development if it meets the size, number and MCS 020(a) noise conditions. Flats and listed buildings usually need permission or consent. We check on survey.

Is the survey free?

Yes, for new installations on the mainland. The survey and written quote are free and there is no obligation.

How much do air-to-air heat pumps cost in Lincolnshire?

Our East Midlands guide range is £2,845–£10,995 for 2–5 rooms, including VAT.

Which towns in Lincolnshire do you cover?

All of Lincolnshire, including Lincoln, Grimsby, Scunthorpe and Boston. Each town has its own page below with local details.

Will my energy bills go down?

If you are replacing direct electric heating, almost certainly. If you are replacing gas, savings depend on tariffs. We give an honest running-cost comparison at survey.

Is an air-to-air heat pump just air conditioning?

Technically it is the same kind of equipment, but it is designed and sized to heat the home through winter, with cooling as a bonus.
